SHAPING THE PUBLIC

Between 2019 and 2020 the cultural initiative LAF - Leerstand als Freiraum e.V.  developed a participatory approach to creating an urban spatial concept. By including students and pupils of various social backgrounds in the design process, they were given the opportunity to leave their fingerprint in public space and identify better with their living environment. The undertaking was initiated and supervised by project managers Fabian Faylona and Theo F. Gomes, but could not have been executed without the support of a big network of volunteers willing to donate their time and labor to its realization.

II. INCLUSIVE THINKING

We believe that a place for an exchange of people should be shaped by people exchanging, so we did a workshop.

III. FINALISING DRAFTS

In the last step we translated the sculptural shapes into a spatial arrangement using analog and virtual models.
