FLAT CHAIR
Plywood , 2017
Built to turn the space under a bunk bed of a 6 sqm chamber into a living room, during my time in Rotterdam. The chair saves space and allows to sit close to the floor, so you can spare a side table.
Built from plywood, this project focuses on affordability and accessibility, utilizing a low-budget construction process. The design maximizes the utility of the material, ensuring that two chairs can be constructed from a single 18 x 1250 x 2500 mm wooden plate. This efficient use of plywood results in a minimal amount of excess, making the project both cost-effective and environmentally friendly.
By emphasizing simplicity and practicality, the design ensures that high-quality, functional furniture is accessible to a wider audience without compromising on sustainability. Additionally, the straightforward construction process allows for easy replication, enabling more people to create their own furniture. This approach not only reduces waste but also fosters a sense of community and shared learning through accessible design.
