Short-term Design Residency at Neubad Luzern aiming to deconstruct the notion of 'Sightseeing' in search of new perspectives on local environments.
The workshop and open workspace proposed artistic approaches in order to explore the emotional qualities of surrounding spaces. It reflected on conceptions of living space through creation of artistic maps and city strolls.
EXPLORATION OF SPACE

For 7 days, the apartment on top of Neubad Lucerne was transformed into a city lab, dedicated to the development of new perspectives on the urban living space around the former swimming hall. Visitors were invited to take part in workshops and actions that illuminate Lucerne from an emotional-artistic perspective, following the practices of the Situationist International. During the workshop, a collection of city tours was created. Movement instructions through urban space helped to lose and find oneself between (un)known places. These were conceived either in the apartment itself with help of maps or developed directly through experimental walks. As a result, a small city guide was created which shows new walking routes around Neubad and, in the process, conveys a new understanding of the term "Sightseeing“.

The project will be happened in collaboration with fellow artist and researcher Liv Burkhard – initiator and host of workshops exploring the 'Tourist Gaze'.

Together the two projects summed up to a one week program with the title:

OH WIE SCHÖN IST PANAMA

A Guide to (Re-)Discovering the City
